What’s your name and how old are you?
Answer: Ivana Sekulic, 27
Do you have kids? If so, how old are they?
Answer: No, I don’t.
Where are you originally from and what city do you currently live?
Answer: I am from Western Serbia, city of Uzice, but from 2009 live in Belgrade.
How long have you been a tour guide?
Answer: 2 years
Why did you want to become a tour guide?
Answer: Because for me it is so interesting job, always want to learn more and open to meet new people, countries, customs. Also, this job is related with University that I finished.
Are you a licensed tour guide? What cities? If so, from which organization?
Answer: Yes, I am. All cities in Serbia. I am freelancer.
How many tours have you provided?
Answer: Oh, I do not know, really.
Let’s get to the exciting stuff. Why should anyone visit the city?
Answer: The city of Belgrade? Because, it is the best place for nightlife, very hospitable people, city full of history, great restaurants, bars, national cuisine.
Is the city safe? What areas are not safe?
Answer: Yes, it is.
What’s the weather like?
Answer: Continental climate, hot summers and cold winters.
What languages are spoken in the area? Is English spoken?
Answer: Serbian, English.
Is US Dollar widely accepted?
What are the best areas or districts to stay in the city?
Answer: City centre, Skadarlia quart, New Belgrade.
What’re your top 3 hotels and why?
Answer: Square nine, Hilton, Marriott and Saint Ten, course of best location and the best service.
How does one get around the city? Taxi, Uber, similar apps, ATVs?
Answer: Taxi, it is so cheap.
Can you highlight the MUST see sight? Minimum of 5, feel free to share as many as you would like.
Answer: Kalemegdan, Knez Mihailova street, Skadarlia quart, St. Sava Temple, Ada Ciganlija lake, Zemun old town, Dunav and Sava promenade…
What’s the best place to take a photo?
Answer: Kalemegdan fortress maybe.
What about the top 3 restaurants?
Answer: Frans, Frida, Has Has, Lorenco and Kakalamba.
What‘s the one thing you MUST eat in the city?
Answer: Prsuta or cevapi, traditional foods. 🙂
Any rooftop bars or restaurants that you recommend?
Answer: Karuzo, Kalemegdanska terasa and Frida.
Can you recommend the best shopping areas? Best shopping mall?
Answer: Usce shopping centar and Delta City.
What about food markets?
Answer: Maxi or Idea markets.
Do you recommend any tours outside the city? Islands? Boat Tours?
Answer: Boat tour to Djerdap gorge, Uvac lake, Drina canyon.
Where should one go at night? Any bar/nightlife areas or districts you recommend?
Answer: Beton hall, Skadarlia boem quart, Splavovi on Danube and Sava rivers.
Are Casinos allowed? Blackjack tables?
Any last advice for people visiting the city?
Answer: Try attending at least 50% of the things I have mentioned.
