Hey everyone, this is Marcello from Youliketotravel.com.
I hope you have been enjoying all these TRAVEL VLOGs. The goal is to showcase these incredible places and make your life a little bit easier when you travel around the world.
I just got back from of my new favorite places in Europe, the awesome city of Kiev in Ukraine.
I gotta be honest, I was extremely surprised how awesome the city was. It has sightseeing, monuments, and great food. And it is also really fun, clean, safe, good for shopping, and for most part an english speaking population.
The city is also super safe, the issue in Ukraine today is in the Crimea area, the far east of Ukraine, which they have a conflict with Russia. So, don’t let that stop you from visiting.
HOW TO GET THERE:
Fly to Kiev airport (KBP) which should be around 20 min from downtown Kiev. Taxi is not an expensive option.
WHERE WE STAYED:
Premier Palace Hotel (5 stars outstanding amenities, perfectly located). This hotel is really unique.
The moment you get in, it just feels like you are royalty, for only around $160 a night. It also has an amazing restaurant rooftop, good gym and a currency exchange store inside the hotel that is worth the stay.
WHERE WE WENT:
Independence Square: This plaza was the site of the Orange Revolution protests, and is presided over by a statue of the Slavic goddess of the home.
Get Some Culture:
National Art Museum of Ukraine
Museum of Miniatures
Pinchuk Art Center
Taras Shevchenko Avenue is one of the city’s major shopping areas.
You can also take a short boat trip along the Dnipro River.
Khreshchatyk Street: One of the most exclusive shopping streets in Europe.
Podil: A busy neighborhood that once formed the trade center of the city .
Andrew’s Descent: The cobblestone street and historic buildings (particularly St. Andrew’s Church) make this one of the most attractive neighborhoods in the city.
Avalon restaurant rooftop (one of the hottest restaurants in the city. It has 3 floors, and a really nice open terrace, great food and drinks. You will need reservation)
Almondo (great choice especially on Sundays)
Alaska (another really hot spot, need reservation)
Atmosphere (very nice rooftop restaurant on top of Premier Palace hotel).
Other restaurants : Avalon, Mur Mur, Coin.
Firstly you can go to Arena entertainment (more like a tourist area but there’re many bar choices), check out Bar called ‘The Bar’, quite nice (KOYA& SKYBAR club).
After midnight go to the Chi restaurant & nightclub.
Chi by decadence nightclub (has amazing deep house, best place by far. This place has the best deep house I have ever heard).
Khreshcatyk street, lots of action
Almondo (it’s karaoke)
D’lux (Classy and elegant)
SUNDAY: Almondo is the spot, but better go there near 1 a.m.
DAY POOL PLACES SATURDAY AND SUNDAYS:
Kiev has amazing places to eat, relax and people watch during the daytime.
Queen’s country club (30 min away from downtown but worth every dollar)
City beach club
Tsarsky city resort (Best gym in Kiev). If you want to put a workout in.
Ocean Plaza (best)
Manufactura Outlet Village
NEED POWER PLUG/OUTLET?
Keep in mind that Kiev uses regular 2 pin european plugs.
AND MY SOUND ADVICE:
Do not skip this city, I loved every day there and is probably one of my top cities in the world.
The cool thing about Kiev that is relatively new to foreigners. So the city is not full with tourists.
To summarize, Kiev is a MUST STOP in eastern Europe. I absolutely loved it and can’t wait to come back.
